Onboarding to BEMO: Transparency and Ease

Onboarding to BEMO: Transparency and Ease

Reentering the job hunt in 2023 wasn’t a fun experience: it was daunting and overwhelming. It had been over ten years since I had actively searched for a new role outside of my prior employer, and so much had changed. There were new ways to find job opportunities and different interview processes than what I was familiar with.

Overwhelmed by all the options for finding a job, I began my search on a familiar platform: LinkedIn. Not only was LinkedIn valuable for searching through job listings, but it also allowed me to keep an eye on companies that I had previously engaged with. I looked through previous posts, successes, and employee connections for companies that I thought would be a good fit for me. BEMO was very high on that list, which prompted me to apply for the Customer Success Team Manager position.

Interviewing at BEMO

When I started the interview process with BEMO, they made the path super clear and much easier than many other interviews I had been through.

Many of the companies I interviewed with had weeks-long processes, often including pre-interview recordings, assessments, or even the preparation of lengthy presentations. BEMO was not one of those organizations.

The interview process was straightforward with three parts. First, I met with Nina, Senior Director of Customer Success, for my initial screening. After that screening went well, I was interviewed by Bruno, the CEO, and finally another member of the leadership team. All three sessions were around 30 minutes long, and the team was welcoming and a pleasure to talk with.

For the final step, BEMO did something different, which signaled to me that the culture of a team and how well people work together are of upmost importance. The last meeting was a “meet and greet” with the new team I’d be overseeing. It was an informal sync to get to know each other and see how we mesh. This was a unique part of the interview process which highlighted the way BEMO values their staff.

Onboarding at BEMO

After accepting my offer, the onboarding process at BEMO was a breeze -- a much welcomed change of pace. My first month was largely learning the company and resources. Unlike previous roles, I wasn’t even brought into team syncs or company meetings for my first two weeks. My manager made it clear that I should not be in a rush to get through things, but to take my time and make sure I was going at a reasonable pace.

This stood out to me; my past onboarding was nothing like this. Used to the pressure of immediately performing and contributing the day that I start, it felt strange to take the time to settle in and understand how BEMO functions.

As I reflect on this experience, there isn’t anything significant that I would do differently. It was a smooth and enjoyable experience that gave me plenty of time to really transition into my new company, my new role and to get in sync with my team. In fact, I recently used this same format to onboard a new employee on my team.

If the interview and onboarding process was any indication, joining BEMO was a great choice. I am given the tools and flexibility to do my job they way that works best for me, the company is extremely transparent on everything (check out our CEO’s LinkedIn and you’ll see what I mean!), I have control over the direction and strategy of my team, I am enabled to voice dissenting opinions when I see things differently than another leader, and everyone at BEMO is treated with respect and given an equal voice. I can’t recommend working at BEMO enough. The experience from my very first interaction with BEMO to now as a full-time team manager has been nothing but positive – and I expect it to stay that way.
