So, you're an entrepreneur or small business of fewer than 10 people and you're ready to get started. What's the first thing you do to make it official? You buy a domain name for your website! And many of use GoDaddy, the largest domain provider in the United States! And while you're at check out you get this little pop up that says "Hey, while you're here, why don't you get Office 365 so that you get email, word, excel... since you're going to need that too". Why not? You're already buying the domain name, you might as well make it super official and get an email as well! And everything is swell...
Until something happens....

So what do you do? You go to Office 365 and try to purchase Microsoft's add-ons for Intune, for Power BI, you try to download the free CRM Outlook plug in.. and what happens??
You get redirected to a page like this and you are blocked from downloading any Outlook plugins or buying Office 365 add-ons!
But why does GoDaddy do this? You thought you bought Office 365, right?
Kind of. Let me explain... GoDaddy is specialized at serving small businesses that are 1 to 10 users. And when you're only a few people you don't have an IT staff so the platform has to be DEAD SIMPLE. There has to be no confusion, and so to achieve this GoDaddy built a UI (User Interface) on top of Office 365 to make it so simple that any small company could navigate their Office 365 needs.
The drawback is that by adding this UI, GoDaddy severely limits the flexibility and usability of Office 365. This isn't a problem when you're only 1 to 5 users, but as your company grows and more people have additional needs it becomes really clear at around 10 employees that GoDaddy has you trapped and you need a new solution.
So how do I fix this?
Unfortunately, you have no choice but to migrate your data from GoDaddy Office 365 to Microsoft Office 365, where you will be free of all of these problems!
The actual migration itself is not all that simple. You will most likely need an IT professional who has specifically migrated away from GoDaddy before.
You have to remember that it's quite possible that there could be multiple migrations going on here. If you're just using Office 365 for email then it's just the email migration, but if you're also using SharePoint, OneDrive, and/or Teams, then you're looking at much more work.
